Steven J. Morton

Steven Morton is a Chicago native. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University, cum laude, in 1980 and his Juris Doctor Degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1983. He successfully completed his bar exam and was licensed to practice law in the State of California in 1984 and maintains his status as a member of the California Bar. He successfully completed his bar exam and was licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois in 1985. He joined the Law Firm of Robert C. Morton & Associates in 1985 and practiced as an associate for 2 years in a law practice that included Personal Injury, Workman's Compensation, Bankruptcy, Criminal Law, Real Estate, Divorce and other Family law matters. In 1987 he opened his own law firm focusing on civil litigation and personal injury law. In 20 years of practice, Steven Morton has litigated hundreds of cases and recovered several million dollars on behalf of his clients. He has successfully litigated matters to verdict or settlement in Cook County, DuPage County, Lake County and the Federal Court in the Northern District of Illinois. Steven Morton has successfully litigated complex civil litigation cases involving medical negligence, products liability, general negligence, automobile accidents, birth injuries, pharmaceutical errors, construction injuries, nursing home injuries and wrongful death. Steven Morton is an active member of many prestigious professional associations, including the Illinois Trial Lawyer's Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Harsha S. Narayan

Harsha S. Narayan practices in all areas of personal injury law, including medical malpractice, product liability, motor vehicle collision and premises liability. Mr. Narayan also handles much of the firm's probate practice concerning the distribution of funds to disabled persons and minors.

A graduate of Loyola University Chicago and The John Marshall Law School, during his twenty-two year tenure with the law firm of Patrick J. Kenneally, Ltd. -- 12 as an associate attorney and 10 as a docket and law clerk while first attending undergraduate and then law school at night – Mr. Narayan participated in the successful prosecution of many important cases where he achieved numerous multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts in cases ranging from a failure to timely diagnose prostate cancer to settlement of two multi-million dollar product liability/negligence cases involving 15 passenger van rollovers. Mr. Narayan also participated in the preparation of numerous briefs to the Illinois Appellate and Supreme Court on a number of complex legal issues.

In joining Steven J. Morton & Associates as senior litigation attorney, Mr. Narayan brings with him a vast amount of experience in all fields of personal injury litigation that he plans to energetically utilize in his practice with the firm.

Timothy W. Heath

Timothy Heath has been an established personal injury attorney in Chicago since 1987 and has been working with Steven J. Morton & Associates for more then 15 years.. Timothy received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1981 and went on to receive his juris doctor from Loyola University Chicago in 1984. After law school, he became licensed in Illinois and worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney from 1984 through 1987. While with the State’s Attorney’s office, Mr. Heath served as counsel on Patterson v. Illinois, which was successfully brought before the United States Supreme Court and is the seminal case on regarding the waiver of the Sixth Amendment Right to Counsel at Post-Indictment Interrogation. Timothy left the State’s Attorney’s office in 1987 to join a series of prestigious civil litigation firms here in Chicago. In 1998, he was named Partner of Hegarty & Heath LLC. While there, he successfully took several cases from the trial court up to the Supreme Court of Illinois and therefore has made an important impact of the development of personal injury law in the State of Illinois. In 2004, he was able to secure a $30 million dollar verdict for his client, a 16-day old infant that tragically passed away after his doctor’s failure to diagnosis kernicterus, or an incompatibility between mother’s blood type and the fetus. This verdict remains one of the largest verdicts in the United States for such a case. In 2009, Timothy became the President of Timothy Heath & Associates, P.C. Timothy continues to handle high profile cases involving medical malpractice and personal injury. To date, Mr. Heath has handled 15 cases that have gone to the Illinois Appellate Court and 8 cases that have reached the Illinois Supreme Court. He has earned the respect of the judiciary and the trial bar for his ability, professionalism, good nature, and success.

Robert C. Morton (In Memoriam)
Robert C. Morton has been practicing law in Chicago for over fifty years. After earning his bachelors degree from the University of Illinois in 1950, he continued at the University of Illinois,pursuing and earning his Juris Doctor Degree in 1953. Robert Morton began his practice immediately following his graduation, with a focus in personal injury, medical malpractice, and bankruptcy law. In the 1970's, Robert C. Morton was one of the first law clinic to legally advertise to the public, under the ruling of Bates v. Osteen. In all, associates and counsel of Robert C. Morton & Associates have a combined total of over one hundred years legal experience, obtaining millions of dollars in awards for their 5,000+ clients. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Morton is extremely involved in the arts, having produced a film based on Ernest Hemingway's "A Clean Well Lighted Place", as well as directing the Longmeadow Journal of Short Stories.
